MAR 30 – APR 6, 2016

Workshop Description

The North of Iceland is an experience on its own – specifically in Winter: landscapes covered with snow, moody sundowns and the possibility to experience Northern Lights at night – this is what makes this workshop special. With a very small group of max. 3 workshop participants we will keep a maximum of flexibility and discover the best photo spots at the right time.

Iceland is considered a paradise for landscape photographers for good reasons. We will take photos of impressive landscapes, beautiful waterfalls, bizarre rock formations and natural beaches.

Workshop Details

Date  Mar 30 – Apr 6, 2016
Type  Landscape, Nature, Northern Lights
Location  Iceland
Participants max. 3
Photo Guide  Jens
Language  German/English
Fee  1.180 €

We will choose accomodation that is typical for the country we’re visiting. All places are carefully selected (some of them equipped with private hot tub) to allow for best overall experience.

Date & Duration

The workshop takes place close to the end of Northern lights season. As we will spend an entire week in Iceland, the likeliness to observe Northern lights during one of the nights is pretty high.

Group Size & Price

The workshop fee is reasonably low given the very small group size. You will receive best value for your money, and there is sufficent time to instruct each workshop participant individually.

Sun will be shining from approx. 6:15 am to 8:15 pm. Our main focus will be on photographing landscapes during sunset. During the nights we will watch out for Northern lights.

Tour Details

We will meet on Wednesday afternoon in Iceland. We will pick up our spacious rental car and head for Grundarfjörður. This small village is next to famous Mt. Kirkjufell located at Snæfellsnes peninsula.

The next day, we will travel around and examine Snæfellsnes, for sundown we will be back at Mt. Kirkjufell.

On Friday, we will ultimately head for the North towards Akureyri and beyond. We will spend four nights very close to scenic waterfall Goðafoss. During the days, we will visit various waterfalls and geothermal areas as well as lake Mývatn.

Depending on the preferences of the workshop participants, we can include a half day super jeep tour to reach Aldeyjarfoss and Hrafnabjargafoss in the highlands. (This tour is not included in the workshop fee.)

On Tuesday, we will be heading back towards Reykjanes peninsula where we will spend the last night in Keflavík close to the airport. If we arrive in time we can spend the last evening at Blue Lagoon spa. (Blue Lagoon entry is not included in th workshop fee.)
